Membership is by invitation which is extended to individuals primarily engaged in a profession, engaged as an owner of a business, partner, proprietor, corporate office, manager, or executive in business or organizations, or engaged as head or deputy in government, or in any occupation with comparable status or comparable responsibilities.

Soroptimist clubs are encouraged to seek a diversified membership with the widest range of classifications possible. (All members are "classified" according to the type of business conducted.)

For further information contact Sally Alapai or contact Nancy Gilleland nancy@gillelanddesigns.com.

Objectives...

  • to maintain high ethical standards in business, professions, and other aspects of life;
  • to strive for human rights for all people and, in particular to advance the status of women;
  • to develop a spirit of friendship and unity among Soroptimists of all countries;
  • to quicken the spirit of service and human understanding;
  • to contribute to international understanding and universal friendship.

Time & Effort Involved In Membership...

Regular attendance at meetings is an important requirement. Occasional absences due to illness, travel, or business are understandable and will not jeopardize membership.

Club meetings are normally held the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 11:45 a.m. The first meeting of the month is a business meeting and the second is a program meeting. The Board meetings are held the 1st Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Members are encouraged to make-up missed meetings by visiting other Soroptimist clubs. Members also have the opportunity to attend District Meetings, Regional Conferences, and Federation and International Conferences.

Each member is expected to participate in the clubs activities and serve on committees which they can volunteer for at our Business Meetings.

We have many new projects planned for the upcoming years that will be gratifying for the club members and provide service to the community in which we live.

Financial Obligations of Membership...

  • Annual dues are $130 (due June 1st); fiscal year is July 1 to June 30;
  • Induction (one time) fee is $15;
  • Quarterly luncheon fees are $120 (6 lunches x $20);
  • Voluntary raffles are $1 or $2. Modest fines may be imposed on members in the spirit of friendship, examples are having your picture in the newspaper, buying a new car, new grandchild or child, birthday, anniversary, etc.
  • Members are encouraged to participate in fundraising and special service projects. Some of these items are tax deductible and you should consult your accountant for confirmation.
  • Our major annual fundraisers are the September "Break the Cycle" Dinner Dance & Silent Auction and sale of See's© candies for delivery in December.
